Product introduction
Lithium Phosphate is an inorganic compound with the formula LiFePO4. It is a gray, red-grey, brown or black solid that is insoluble in water. The material has attracted attention as a component of lithium iron phosphate batteries, a type of Li-ion battery. This battery chemistry is targeted for use in power tools, electric vehicles, solar energy installations and more recently large grid-scale energy storage. It is also used in OLPC XO education laptops. Lithium iron phosphate exists naturally in the form of the mineral triphylite, but this material has insufficient purity for use in batteries.
The batteries made with this Lithium Phosphate have the characteristics of small size, light weight, safety and reliability, high energy density, multiple cycles, good low-temperature performance, stable capacity, and high one-time charging and discharging ratio. They are widely used in different fields, such as batteries, endurance batteries, active batteries, new energy vehicles, and household appliances.

What is lithium phosphate used for?
Lithium phosphate mainly used in the manufacturing of coloration phosphors, specific glass, optical disc materials, etc., used as catalysts for the manufacturing of colour phosphors. Most lithium batteries (Li-ion) used in 3C (computer, communication, customer electronics) merchandise use cathodes made of different lithium compounds, such as lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2), lithium manganese oxide (LiMn2O4), and lithium nickel oxide (LiNiO2). The anodes are usually made of graphite.

Lithium hexafluorophosphate is the main raw material of the electrolyte, and the quality ratio is only about 10%, but the cost ratio exceeds 50%. The electrolyte production capacity is mainly limited by the production capacity of lithium hexafluorophosphate, and product prices are also mainly affected by lithium hexafluorophosphate.
Since the beginning of the year, the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate has been soaring due to the mismatch of supply and demand. The market price has risen from 105,000 to 115,000 yuan/ton at the beginning of the year to 410,000 to 450,000 yuan/ton in September, and some zero-order quotations have exceeded 500,000 yuan/ton. An increase of nearly 4 times.
The skyrocketing price of lithium hexafluorophosphate directly led to a further increase in the cost of the electrolyte and drove the price of the electrolyte to rise more than twice. Among them, the price of LFP battery electrolyte has risen from 39,000 yuan/ton at the beginning of the year to 125,000 yuan/tons in November.
The production and sales of lithium hexafluorophosphate are booming, and the soaring price directly increases the net profit of lithium hexafluorophosphate enterprises.
Among them, the net profit of Poly Fluoride, Yan'an Bikang and Tianji in the first three quarters of 2021 increased by 5316%, 4673%, and 1121% respectively. CAS: 10377-52-3
It is worth noting that although the price of lithium hexafluorophosphate continues to rise, it is still in short supply. This creates support conditions for the future price increase of lithium hexafluorophosphate, which in turn stimulates lithium hexafluorophosphate manufacturers to invest in expansion.Lithium Satls made in China
